The service offers to partners a reliable, sensitive and exhaustive technology to detect all viruses infecting plant samples, in particular for the identification of the viruses involved in novel diseases or in syndrome of unknown etiology. The service provides counseling and costing on projects, receives the samples, performs the extraction of nucleic acids. High-throughput sequencing is outsourced to a subcontractor and the platform performs the downstream bioinformatic analysis, up to the identification of known or novel viral agents present in the samples analyzed.
Unit: Analysis of fourteen plant samples: extraction of nucleic acids, HTS (outsourced), bioinformatic analysis, up to the identification of known or novel viral agents

In an outbreak situation in crops, it is necessary to obtain quickly a good overview of the viruses that may be involved. Only in this way can the right measures be taken to safeguard crop production immediately but also in the long term. High-throughput sequencing (HTS) and bioinformatics analysis of samples offer a global analysis of the phytosanitary status of plants and the rapid and precise identification of pathogens.
Unit: Analysis of ten individual samples in an outbreak situation, covering all steps of a workflow - from DNA/RNA extraction, state of the art library preparation, sequencing on Illumina platforms and comprehensive bioinformatics analysis.

Specific tests for certain regulated viruses are required for the certification of seed and planting material. However, the main limitation of this approach is that only these viruses are detected. Latent and/or unknown viruses, which can also have a significant impact on yield and product quality, remain unidentified. Especially in vegetative propagation material, this inevitably leads to the accumulation of such pathogens. High-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analysis offers a global analysis of the phytosanitary status of plants.

Many regularly cultivated field crops are affected by viral pathogens, especially if they are grown on a large scale, which usually results in significant yield reductions. As a first step, it is important to obtain an overview of which viruses are involved in order to counter this problem. To obtain a representative overview, it is necessary to investigate a significant number of samples.
Unit: Package contains all antibodies (IgGs and conjugates) required for the analysis of up to 500 samples (or 250 samples analysed in duplicate wells) by ELISA (200 µl scale) plus 2 positive controls per virus (2 ml).
